Reclaiming Power Through the Archetypes
In my upcoming book, Presence Golf: A Sacred Path to Self-Mastery (out Fall 2025), I explore the power of archetypes—timeless energies rooted in Carl Jung’s depth psychology—as tools to evolve our souls both on and off the golf course.
Jung believed that within each of us lives a vast inner world shaped by universal patterns of consciousness. These archetypes—like the Hero, the Sage, the Lover, the Jester—are not personality types. They are primordial forces that influence how we lead, love, fight, fail, create… and even how we swing a golf club.
These inner energies can either guide us or sabotage us. When brought into conscious awareness, they become sacred allies on the path of Self-Mastery.
The Rebel Enters the Arena
In my most recent round of golf, I chose to embody the Rebel. Not the kind of rebel who breaks United States Golf Association rules—but the one who breaks the internal rules I’ve lived by far too long. The rules that said: It’s not safe to be great. Don’t outshine others—it might make them uncomfortable. Play small. Don’t ruffle feathers.
These were the invisible shackles placed on me by conditioning and fear—not just mine, but inherited from others who didn’t feel safe in their own power. And I’ve carried those shackles into my swing, my life, and my soul. Not anymore.
My Round with the Rebel
My intention was clear:Play golf with zero apologies. No downplaying my abilities. No self-deprecating comments. If I chunk it, I smile. If I hit it pure, I own it.
The Rebel doesn’t seek approval. The Rebel doesn’t shrink. The Rebel reclaims inner power.
What I discovered was this: The Rebel’s greatest fear is powerlessness. And that fear has lived inside me for a long time—not because I’m weak, but because somewhere along the way, I believed that if I showed up fully in my strength—I wouldn’t be loved.
So I chose conditional love over inner power. I chose approval over authenticity. I chose safety over greatness.
But that false safety cost me everything. And now, I’m choosing differently.
No Shrinking. No Apologies.
That round of golf was a powerful mirror. I was paired with two really good players—one of them much younger. In the past, I would have shrunk. Played tight. Looked for ways to prove I belonged. But not this time. I stayed grounded. I didn’t compare. I didn’t shrink. I didn’t apologize. I didn’t relax when they hit a bad shot so I could feel superior.
The Rebel doesn’t play that game. The Rebel plays to elevate—not dominate. To awaken—not appease. And that’s the path I’m choosing now. I want to play with golfers who are better than me—not to feel less than, but to grow. To rise. To evolve.
It’s Not Just Safe to Be Great—It’s Your Sacred Duty
Here’s what I know now deep in my soul: It is not just safe to be great—it’s dangerous not to be.
Every time I withhold my greatness to make others feel comfortable, I betray my Self. Every time I pretend to be less, I dishonor the power of God within me. The Rebel knows this. And he doesn’t flinch. He shows up with courage. With presence. With unapologetic truth.Even if it makes others uncomfortable. Especially then.
This Is Radical Freedom
Radical freedom isn’t about rebellion for rebellion’s sake. It’s about shedding the lies that keep us bound. It’s about playing and living from our deepest Essence. It’s about choosing truth over fear. Every damn time. And it’s a practice. I’m still learning. Still stumbling. Still rising. But I’m no longer willing to play small to keep the peace. That peace was never real anyway.
How Can You Embody the Rebel?
So I’ll ask you: Where are you shrinking? Where are you hiding your greatness? Where are you giving your power away to fear, opinion, or tradition? What would it look like to live—and play—with zero apologies?
This isn’t about ego. It’s about Essence. It’s about inner Power. It’s about the sacred fire that says:
I will no longer betray myself just to be accepted. I will live, love, and swing with radical freedom. Brother, awaken the Rebel within. Own your greatness. Live free. And take your damn shot.
